Ponmudi meaning "The Golden Mountain" is situated at an altitude of 3200 feet from the sea level at the very fag end of the Western Ghats mountains in the state of Kerala, India. It is only 61 kms. from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, adorned with bountiful nature and serene surroundings. The often misty weather adds to the charm of the place which is blessed with trickling springs and rivulets. Meadows and valleys add to the quaint and tranquil ambience as tea-estates and cottages deck up the vanity of the otherwise un-corrupt place. Some of the highest tea estates in Kerala can be seen in Munnar, as the hills surrounding this scenic town are carpeted with tea bushes, spice plantations and greenery.
